Spring Wedding Venue Review – World Forestry Center

We had the privilege of touring World Forestry Center on a beautiful spring day! The venue is nestled in Washington Park just above central downtown Portland. This allows for luscious natural beauty while still being easily accessible for guest to get to. We loved the variety of ceremony and reception options this venue offers, including a spacious outdoor space, an intimate garden setting, and grand rustic indoor space.

We interviewed Adara the Event Services Liaison to find out what makes World Forestry Center an ideal spring wedding venue!

How long have you been in business?  The World Forestry was established in 1966.

Tell us a little bit about the history of your venue: Founded in 1966, the World Forestry Center (WFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and inspiring champions of sustainable forestry. Based in Portland, Oregon, the WFC provides critical programs in convening and professional development of global leaders and practitioners in forestry and related fields. Through its World Forest Institute Program, the WFC has hosted public and private forest professionals from over 40 countries to advance research, networking, and knowledge exchange. WFC’s Discovery Museum was opened in 1971 to educate the general public about local and global forests and sustainable forestry.  Magness Memorial Tree Farm, our premier demonstration forest located near Sherwood, Oregon, offers a hands-on outdoor approach to environmental learning. Our campus hosts over 65,000 visitors each year, many from other non-profits that use our space for gatherings, events, and meetings.

How many weddings do you hold a year?  Over 50

Do you offer a day of coordinator?  We do not.

How many guests can your venue hold?  Up to 400 for a banquet.

Do you allow outside catering options?  We have a list of 12 preferred caterers that our clients are required to choose from providing them with a nice variety of culinary and budget options.

Where does your venue draw inspiration?  Our banquet halls with wood beamed ceilings and our outdoor tented plaza offer modern amenities in a natural park setting.

As photographers, we love the uniqueness and grand beauty of World Forestry Center.  Having the venue nestled into Portland’s backyard provides guests the convenience of riding the Max Light Rail. Most importantly, we love that couples get the opportunity to give back to a non-profit organization.
