When were you founded?
We were founded in 1989 in my sophomore year of college at Portland State University. The business began with myself and my violinist Karen Walthinsen. In 2003 I began working with violinist James McLennan and continue to do so today. We have happily serviced more than 3000 events since our inception.
What is your specialty?
We specialize in provide professional quality string duo/ string trio/ string quartet/ Duo with Flute or Guitar. Additionally we provide one special pop song arrangement for each couple at no charge. Each wedding is created specially for the bride and groom. Finally, we have several hundred pop arrangements for our instrumentation available to all of our clients.

What sets us apart is customer service, value, and the quality of our product.
Why did you get into weddings?
We originally got into the wedding business as a way to supplement our income. Within a couple of years I grew to love working with people in the wedding industry. To be part of a bride/grooms special day is a blessing and a gift! Our business has grown organically and not to quickly. I have never relied on the income to support my family directly (in other words I’ve always had another full time job – for the past 15 years I’ve been the music director at the Portland Waldorf School).
What is your favorite part about weddings?
Helping people create lasting memories.
What advice would you give a couple planning their wedding?
Come prepared to share your visions of your day while allowing your professional vendors to share ideas and make recommendations as well. The most successful events have been a collaborative effort by both parties.

What is your pricing?
From our homepage on our website we have a feature which allows any potential customer to “get and instant quote”. This way they can play with various ways of making our services affordable for their day. Our rates start at about $225.

We give a 10% discount to Powers customers.

Do you charge for travel?
We travel all over the state and southwestern Washington. For events outside the Portland metro area there is a fee of .55 per mile round trip for one vehicle. The instant quote feature calculates that for you. All events within the Tri- County are includes free travel.
