Melissa & Ryan

A few days before this engagement shoot, I get an email from Melissa about the upcoming weather forecast. It just so happened that at that exact same time, I was also looking at the weather, thinking we might need to change the day. Taking our cue from “experienced” meteorologists, we decided to move the shoot day to the day after. The original day came… and it was gorgeous, warm and sunny! The day of the shoot came and it was pouring down rain. The location itself was a few hours away, so I sent a text to Melissa seeing if they still wanted to go through it with it. The reply I received was “Yeah just got my makeup done see you there.” (thank you Austie Eckley for the beautiful last minute makeup job!). I was so excited! These guys were not about to let a little rain stop their fun. The drive out had me worried, at times I could barely see 10ft in front of my car the rain was so thick, but I made it and found Melissa and Ryan waiting with smiles on. The happy couple chose this particular place because it was where they had met. Not having been there before myself, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. But, when I got down to the river, I was not disappointed. I felt as if Bob Ross himself came down and painted the scene before me. The beauty of this place was definitely matched by the beautiful love these two shared for each other. The best moment of the day would have to be a tie for me. Either the waterproof heels Melissa was wearing while balancing on river rock or after the outfit change. Melissa came back down to the river wearing a little black dress and some awesome green galoshes. When I mentioned a beautiful viewpoint that was through the forest and over a washed out section of trail, they didn’t hesitate to scramble up the slope. I was starting to think I could have asked these two to jump in the river with nothing but complete compliance, however I decided not to press my luck. All three of us had so much, I didn’t want it to end, but all good things must come to an end, if only to open the door for the next good thing, which I’m sure their wedding will be nothing short of. I think the only thing happier than Melissa or Ryan (or myself), might have been the happy little trees.
