Tell us about how Zest was founded:
Zest was founded in 2010 by Hailey Bernstein. Hailey has always loved the event world, especially floral and decor. Growing up, her mom used to do flowers, and Hailey would often help her, which was where she got her first exposure. After graduating from USC with degrees in communication and business, Hailey worked at a PR/social marketing agency and would do freelance floral and event design on weekends. Hailey started getting more and more requests, and finally realized she couldn’t juggle the two. She decided to follow her passion and start Zest!
What does your company specialize in?
Zest is a boutique floral and event design studio specializing in weddings and events. We work with clients to craft one-of-a-kind events and bring unique visions to life through couture florals, creative event design, custom and specialty décor, and overall event styling. Zest was voted “best florist” of 2012 by readers of Oregon Bride Magazine.
What sets you apart from other vendors in your category?
At Zest, our style tends to be clean, modern and chic, with a bit of sass and flair. Everything we do is custom, artfully styled and well-tailored for each client. Second to flowers, of course, we love fashion, interior design and architecture, which play pretty strong roles in our designs.
What is your favorite part about weddings?
Our favorite part about weddings is-hands down-watching the look on a bride’s face when she sees her flowers for the first time. There’s nothing more gratifying.
What advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
Most often, our inspiration comes directly from the couples. We encourage brides and grooms to send over pinterest boards, bring magazine tear-outs, photos, favorite colors, flowers, family heirlooms, etc. We then piece these elements together to help bring their unique vision to life.

What is your average pricing?
Everything we do at Zest is customized to suit individual needs, budget, season, style, etc. For a more accurate price quote, we recommend contacting us with a few details and/or setting up a consultation.

Do you travel outside of PDX for weddings? If so how far and is there a fee?
We frequently do weddings outside of the greater Portland area and are happy to travel for our clients. We’ve done weddings in Seattle, Olympia, Bend, Hood River, the Willamette Valley, and the Oregon Coast. We simply charge a delivery fee based on mileage.
