Katie & Sam

2014. A New Year and new beginning. 2013 was one of the best years I have had in photography and the people and I’ve met through photography have been amazing. If this first wedding of 2014 is to be indication of my future then this year will be mind blowing. Quite simply, Katie and Sam are fantastic people. Even simpler than that, their friends are fantastic as well. I’ve had some history with some of the bridal party so I knew what they were capable of and they did not disappoint. Let’s get to that later. Started out the day at the Governor Hotel which has been remodeled and it looks great. By the grace of God and our gracious hosts, there weren’t any other events going on that day so we were able to take advantage of different locations within the hotel. We made our departure for the West End for the ceremony. Ceremony was done by Sam’s father and it was great. Heartfelt and simple. We decided to do the night life theme for the photos and bounced around outside, the inside and the side side of the ballroom. We did not leave any place unused. We even used the parking lot across the street. Then there’s the reception. You know rythm is a dancer…and Katie, Sam and their friends and family knew this. That dancefloor was moving. There was jumping, sliding, break dancing, worm-ing, basketballing and a whole bunch of other ”ings” that was happening. After all the hullaballo was winding down, we took the opportunity to go to some sights around Portland. Keeping it simple, we drove down the street to get some awesome shots of the night lights. What can I say…I’m a lucky guy. My clients rock and am glad Sam and Katie helped me kick off 2014 properly!! Right A-Aron?

Wedding at The West End Ballroom

From the couple:

“We LOVED working with the Powers team. The whole process was very organized and efficient.
Our photographer was incredible and exceeded our expectations! He remembered everyone’s names, was fast, and creative. He listened to our own ideas and was flexible throughout the day with our tight schedule and last minute changes. He does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. We wanted playful group shots and photos that would reflect the energy and fun of the wedding – and we got just that. Our day wouldn’t have been the same without him. We can’t thank you enough, and we give you our highest recommendation!”
