Emily & Kevin

Camp Colton is a place that seems to swallow you up, making you realize that it’s a hidden haven right off the beaten path. The trees tower over you with the sunshine peeking through and creating sparkle all across the lake. Nearby you hear the loud rush of the creek as it passes under the bridges just outside the cabins. It’s a magical place and one that was perfect for Kevin and Emily’s group.

I arrived to find Emily’s friend Bailey, of Forest & Field, putting together beautiful florals for the wedding day. Further down the path I came to the lake where some friends were gathered in the sunshine whilst snacking and playing cards. Another group was headed to the river to see Kevin get in for a quick (and cold!) dip. :)

Was I really there to photograph a wedding? There was so much fun and relaxed activity going on. Many weddings are filled with stress and worry (understandably!) but this was just not the case. Emily and Kevin had put themselves in an environment that made it very hard to stress. And they surrounded themselves with their closest friends, creating this awesome camaraderie and sense of community there at the camp. I could have stayed there for days. But there was a wedding to attend to!

Emily, clad in a handmade wedding dress created by her own mother (love!), walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to marry Kevin. The ceremony concluded with the steeping and sharing of tea since that’s what originally brought the two together years prior. It was a perfect way to come full circle on their relationship thus far, as well as signify their new beginning.

The evening was unforgettable. With live music from their friends that got everyone dancing, scrumptious desserts and popcorn for the sweet tooth, cigars and laughter with the guys, and lots and lots of joy. An exceptional amount of happiness and joy. Congratulations, Kevin & Emily!
